Poetry is known to soothe the soul. Caitlin
wrote poetry in times of stress and confusion. Her poems are very
strong and emotionally charged. Unfortunately, for us, most of her
poetry ended up in the waste basket. After she poured her problems
out onto paper in the form of poetry, she usually crumpled up the
paper and threw the poem and the problems away. Fortunately, not all
of her poetry ended this way. Presented here are several of her
surviving poems.
Edgar Guest's poem, To All Parents,
appears on numerous memorial web sites and
expresses very well our feelings about God's relationship to
Caitlin's life and death.
Caitlin's school, River Hill High School,
conducts a poetry contest each spring in her memory. The entries from
those contests are here for your viewing. These poems have all been
written by teenagers, of whom some knew Caitlin, but many did not.
